Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel denies the claims of calling India a poor country

Yesterday Indians on social media pages like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram lost their minds when an ex-employee of Snapchat claimed that the Chief Executive Officer of the company Evan Spiegel called India a poor country. He allegedly stated, “This app is only for rich people. I don’t want to expand in poor countries like India and Spain.” But, now as per a popular daily, a suit was filed by an ex-employee Anthony Pompliano allegedly that he was abruptly cut short by Spiegel at a meeting in 2015 when he had brought up the overseas growth of the app in developing countries such as India. And now, Snapchat - the video based social media platform - owned by parent company Snap Inc. said, “This is ridiculous. Obviously Snap is for everyone! It’s available worldwide to download for free.” When the reports came yesterday, many Indians called for a ban on Snapchat and ridiculed the thoughts of the CEO. They started the trend namely #boycottsnapchat, #BanSnapchat and much more. Moreover, Anthony was reportedly fired from Snapchat and he is also a former employee of Facebook. The company cleared its stand and said, “Snap has nothing to hide, especially now that it is a public company.” Many celebrities went on to tweet about it. Anupam Kher stated, “Rich or poor, we can always the power to snap a chat.:)” Whereas filmmaker Karan Johar retweeted a tweet which said, “@hikeapp is made with in India, for India :) #boycottsnapchat” What are your thoughts on this Snapchat controversy?
