Smithy's mother in Gavin and Stacey is a huge star and this is for why
Gavin and Stacey has seen many a cameo in the 17 years it has been running. Whether it be politician John Prescott, Hear Say's Noel Sullivan and even Tom Jones joining for a Charity clip, many a famous face have joined Gavin, Stacey and the gang.
But some huge names have also had small parts in the show, such as Sheridan Smith as Smithy's sister and Pam Ferris as Smithy's mother. While both have minor parts in the sitcom - with Pam Ferris only featuring in two episodes before the finale - they certainly made their mark.
And while many fans of the BBC series may only recognise Pam from playing Smithy's Narcoleptic mother, over the years she has starred in some iconic roles. Gavin and Stacey returned t BBC One on Christmas Day, 2024 as the final episode aired, with both Sheridan Smith and Pam making appearances at Smithy's wedding.

Perhaps best known for playing Mrs Trunchbull in hit film Matilda, Pam has also featured in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and the Nativity films. She has also made dozens of television appearances, most notably Where The Heart is and The Darling Buds of May.
Despite only appearing in a now total of three Gavin and Stacey episodes, she has long been a fan favourite from the show. Whether that be falling asleep in her own grandson's funeral, accidentally flashing Nessa on videocall or talking Pam's ear off about her medical condition.
As the final episode of the sitcom aired, it seems not many people realised Pam's other roles. One person said on social media: "I'll never get over Smithy's Mum being Mrs Trunchbull" while another added: "Iwas today years old when i found out that smithy’s mum is miss trunchball from the og matilda" and another, "Just your annual reminder that Smithy’s mum is played by the same actress as Miss Trunchbull…".
