Slipknot announce departure of drummer Jay Weinberg
Drummer Jay Weinberg has parted ways with Slipknot after 10 years.
The masked heavy metal band announced via their website on Sunday that Jay - who joined Slipknot in 2014 following the departure of original drummer Joey Jordison a year earlier - was no longer a member of the group.
"We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years," the statement read. "No one can ever replace Joey Jordison's original sound, style or energy, but Jay honored Joey's parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it."
The Wait and Bleed rockers noted that parting ways with Jay was a "creative decision" based on the band's intent of "evolving".
"We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds," the statement concluded.
Jay is the son of Max Weinberg, the drummer for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band.
His departure marks the second time in five months the band have lost a member, after keyboardist Craig Jones left the group in June.
