Sir David Jason has admitted he had "disagreements" with The Repair Shop star Jay Blades while they filmed Jay and David's Touring Tool Shed.

Sir David recently teamed up with The Repair Shop's Jay Blades for the BBC series, in which they explored various restoration projects.

Writing in his latest memoir This Time Next Year, the Only Fools and Horses star spoke about how much he enjoyed filming the show with Jay but admitted the pair did not see eye to eye over some "wince-inducing jokes", the Daily Express reports.

David, 84, wrote: “I’m very fond of the little routines that Jay and I came up with...they don’t redefine the boundaries of comedy, but they’re not supposed to. They’re just there to raise a smile and gently move the show along.

“And then there are the ones where I simply told Jay wince-inducing jokes...What’s certainly true is that some of them were so old that they were in black and white.

“In my opinion there are jokes which are so dusty that they are funny again on account of all the dust. Well, I hope so, anyway. That’s certainly the way they seem to me. Jay frequently begged to differ.”

Blades, 54, has since been charged with controlling and coercive behaviour against his wife, which he has denied and is set to face a trial before a Crown Court jury.

The charge alleges that controlling and coercive behaviour took place in an intimate or family relationship between January 1 2023 and September 12 this year. Ms Zbozen announced that the pair’s relationship was over in an Instagram post on May 2.

Sir David has aldo confirmed there will be no follow-up series, adding that he is “open to offers” for new TV projects. The actor also revealed he will be hosting Christmas for his long-lost daughter and grandson.

The TV star received a letter from actress Abi Harris at the end of 2022, who said she believed Sir David was her father after he had a brief relationship with Jennifer Hill, her mother, in early 1970.

Sir David welcomed Ms Harris and her young son Charlie into his family after a paternity test proved their relationship, and will host the pair at his 18th-century farmhouse near Wendover, Buckinghamshire, this Christmas.

“We’ll share some Christmas time together and will probably play lots of games,” Sir David told the Radio Times.

“Time is helping with us all getting to know each other,” he added.

The TV star also has 23-year-old daughter Sophie with his wife Gill Hinchcliffe, who is 20 years his junior. The pair were married in 2005 on the eve of his investiture ceremony where he was knighted for his services to acting and comedy.
