Sipsmith's new Orange & Cacao gin is the perfect tipple for Easter
Oh how we love a new gin flavour, and Sipsmith's latest creation has us eager to pour ourselves a glass.
Launching on 7th April, just in time for Easter, the new Orange & Cacao Gin is perfect for those who love a little sweetness to their gin.
Created at the Sipsmith Distillery in London, the new gin uses liquorice for natural sweetness, along with orange blossom, black cardamom and raw cacao nibs. To finish they rest it on fresh orange zest, which apparently creates a balanced, zesty, warming and juniper-forward gin.
The gin is described to have the aroma of zesty marmalade, the taste of rich dark chocolate with candied orange and Madagascan vanilla and the long-finish of fresh pine and ginger spice. Which all sounds very complex and utterly delightful!
And the best part is, the gin actually contains 50% more juniper than their London Dry Gin, meaning the juniper backbone of the gin isn't compromised by the additional flavourings.
Inspired by the favourable chocolate and orange combination, the expert team at the distillery were keen to create a modern take on the popular citrus gin category.
"This gin has been a true labour of love. From our first day we’ve always made gin without compromise. Getting the perfect juniper forward balance for our Sipsmith Orange & Cacao took time but we were determined to create an orange gin which harks back to a strong trend for citrus gins a century ago," says Jared Brown, Master Distiller for Sipsmith.
So how best to drink it?
It's recommended to pair it simply with a tonic for a Chocolate Orange G&T, or for something fancier, how about an Orange Collins?
Simply pour 50ml Sipsmith Orange & Cacao Gin and 20ml fresh orange juice over ice, top with soda water and garnish with an orange wedge or twist. Yum!
Sipsmith Orange & Cacao Gin has an RRP of £25, 40% ABV and is launching in Sainsbury’s on 7th April.
