Baking can be a fun way to relax while cooking up sweet treats your family will love. But when it's time to mix your ingredients together, your calm façade suddenly starts to disappear…

The problem...

Has anyone else noticed that batter somehow has the ability to end up everywhere?! When you pull out the mixer, it's a sign that you're about to end up with cake mix on your top, and your cabinets, and your work surfaces. No square inch of the kitchen is safe!

The solution...

Luckily, the GHI have a handy little trick to help you avoid this messy situation.

All you need is a paper plate and a pair of scissors. Take your scissors, and make two holes in a paper plate, big enough to poke the ends of your mixer’s whisks through.

Next, poke the ends of your mixer’s whisks through the holes in the paper plate. The plate should hang nicely where the stem meets the whisk.

Now, when you turn on your mixer, you'll see that the plate catches all the batter that otherwise would have splattered, effectively acting as a shield. Your kitchen counters will certainly thank you for this one.
