Sian Welby gives birth! This Morning star welcomes baby girl and announces gorgeous name
Sian Welby has given birth to her first child with her Heart Breakfast producer fiancé Jake Beckett.
This Morning star Sian was seen on a walk proudly cradling the newborn.
She later confirmed her little one's arrival as she shared pictures on Instagram - and announced her name. Sian's daughter can be seen in her crib in the sweet pics, wearing a knitted cardigan with 'Ruby' embroidered on it.
The new mum captioned the snap: "Our little Ruby."
Celeb congratulations poured in as Ruth Langsford said: "How wonderful! Congratulations Welcome to the world beautiful Ruby" and Amanda Holden gushed: "Just the best."
This Morning said: "A massive congratulations to you both, from the whole team here at TM! We can’t wait to meet little Ruby!
Before giving birth, 37 year old Capital broadcaster Sian had announced that she would be welcoming a daughter.
Sian told her fellow presenters and listeners on Capital radio before her maternity leave: "I'm at that point where I'm 38 weeks - I've got 11 days to go." She then went on to say: "Before I go off on baby leave, I do want to share one thing with everyone because I've decided that Capital Breakfast, it doesn't have listeners, we are a family and I have told my nearest and dearest what me and my partner Jake are having.
"And I know you are all invested. So I'm going to tell you what I'm having - it's a girl!"
Co-host Jordan North responded lovingly: "I mean thing when I say it, you're both going to be great parents. You're going to be the best mum and he's going to be the best dad. Honestly we're so happy for you."
Sian went on maternity leave from Capital on Thursday 7 June with Kemi Rogers taking her place whilst she's away.
The star also revealed that her Capital FM co-star Jordan North will be covering her showbiz news segment on This Morning whilst she's on maternity leave. The show's main hosts, Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, were introduced to Sian's stand-in on Monday, 10 June.
On her last This Morning show before she gave birth, Ben said: "First it's time for the latest showbiz news, Sian is here, for your very last date with us before you go off to pop" Keeping up the lighthearted atmosphere, Sian replied: "Yes, exactly which I think I've pushed as far as I can without going into labour on this sofa!".
Ben then teased viewers: "We are thrilled that you are here for one last time and you've got a bit of an exclusive for us as well?"
Sian then revealed: "I do because I know the showbiz news needs to be left in good hands and somebody that deals with showbiz stories every morning and actually works alongside me most mornings when I am doing the radio... This is the handover of all handovers!", reports the Mirror.
Talking about the incoming change, she gushed: "I really think this is the perfect guy for the job, I work with him every morning and he's fantastic."
Soon after, she revealed that Jordan North, who joined Capital FM in April 2024, would be her successor.
Chipping in, Ben stated: "This is the showbiz handover, like on the relay", to which Sian joked: "This is like the baton in the Olympics."
"I'm so glad it's Jordan. You are brilliant and he's the perfect guy for the job, we have such a laugh on Capital."
