If you know your Evita from your Cats, have nailed most of the lyrics of Jesus Christ Superstar and dream of playing Christine in Phantom Of The Opera (if only you could hit those high notes) then you're in luck.

That's because legend of musical theatre Andrew Lloyd Webber has teamed up with Universal to announce a raft of iconic musicals will be made available to watch for free on YouTube.

"Universal have come up with the idea of a whole series called The Show Must Go On, which is about musicals going from stage to screen," he said in a short video announcing the project.

Filmed versions of his shows will be uploaded to the YouTube channel each week, where they can be viewed for 48 hours free of charge.

First up is Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, which will will be available to watch from 3 April with its star-studded cast including Donny Osmond, Richard Attenborough and Joan Collins.

Next will be Jesus Christ Superstar the week after, starring Tim Minchin, Melanie C and Chris Moyles.

It's unclear at this stage exactly how long we'll be treated to musicals on the channel, but we do know that down the line it will feature Andrew Lloyd Webber's 1975 show By Jeeves.
