With the festive period coming to an end, shops on high streets across the country will be once again re-opening their doors to the public. If you are thinking about popping out for a bit of post-Christmas shopping, then you might notice that a few of your favourite retailers are open at different hours compared to normal this week.

This is because New Year is fast approaching, a day that is technically classed as a bank holiday. This means that retailers might be closing earlier on the day before, December 31, to allow staff the chance to enjoy a well deserved break.

So, if you're looking to do some sale shopping, or you need to get in some essentials for a New Year party, then you might need to plan your journey before you head on out as you normally would.
