How to shop the £49 John Lewis Christmas advert jumper
The John Lewis Christmas advert 2024 is here, but heartwarming as it always is (and this year's is no exception), what's really caught our eye is the fashion. And, in particular, a Fair Isle jumper that's already flying off the shelves.
The Fair Isle Wool Blend Knit Jumper, £49, is currently marked as a bestseller on the John Lewis website, with over 100 customers snapping it up in the last 24 hours alone. It comes in two colourways: beige with an on-trend chocolate-brown and cream pattern, and navy with brighter red and white diamonds. It's the former, super versatile style that features in the Christmas ad and is sure to become a staple in your winter capsule wardrobe.
This chic jumper will go with almost everything you already own, making it a worthy buy at an affordable price. Try it over a white shirt with tailored trousers and loafers for the office, with denim and trainers at the weekends, and with glossy black trousers, sparkly earrings and slingbacks for festive drinks this season. Or, style it with a silky slip skirt or sequin trousers. 'Tis the season, after all.
This year's John Lewis Christmas advert, The Gifting Hour, tells the story of Sally, who has left buying a present for her sister, Lauren, to the last minute, and is running out of time. She runs into a John Lewis shop just 15 minutes before it closes and ends up falling through a rail of dresses into a magical world, only to emerge, Narnia-style, into the attic of her childhood home.
From there, Sally goes on a sentimental journey through her past – to the tune of The Verve's nostalgic '90s hit "Sonnet", no less – in a bid to find the perfect gift for her sister. She succeeds, returns to the shop with her beautifully wrapped present, and shares a special moment with her sister. The pair are then seen walking away as her sister as a child is reflected in the John Lewis window. The message? "For the perfect gift, know where to look." There's something in our eye...
