One family reunited two related dogs!

The owners of canine sisters Jazz and Zoey unknowingly reunited the Siberian husky/Belgian Malinois mixes after the siblings spent two and half years apart. Santa Clara County Animal Services and Jazz and Zoey's Instagram account (@jazzandzoeythehuskymalinois) shared the astounding story in an Instagram video posted on Saturday, Dec. 21.

The clip shares that the dog sisters' owners adopted Jazz first and then decided to foster a dog from Santa Clara County Animal Services years later because the second pup "looked identical" to Jazz and because the shelter "was pleading for a foster" for the overwhelmed dog.

So, the couple who adopted Jazz took in the foster dog that looked just like her and named her Zoey.

"She was so terrified of people. She wouldn't even come out of her kennel at first. She wouldn't let us put a leash on her. We could only pet her if she was in her kennel," the video shares of how Zoey initially adjusted to her foster home. "She was really interested in meeting our dog, Jazz! But still very scared."

"She didn't like it when Jazz came near her safe space, so it was clear it would take a bit to introduce them. But they loved to say "Hi!" through the glass," the video adds. Then, a week and a half after fostering Zoey, the dog's foster parents decided to have Jazz and Zoey meet up close, "and they loved each other immediately!"

Eventually, Zoey warmed to her foster parents, too. The couple soon formed a strong bond with Zoey and officially adopted her after three weeks of foster care.

But, as the video teases, "that's not even the best part" of Zoey's story. Zoey and Jazz's pet parents recently learned through a DNA test that the dogs are biological sisters.

"We found them 2.5 years apart at two separate shelters over 30 miles away from each other. They were always meant to be together," the video says of the dogs' undeniable link.

In a separate Dec. 21 Instagram post, the dogs' account shared screenshots of the canines' DNA test results.

"Jazz is Zoey's sister," reads one of the screenshots. "49% of their DNA is shared from the same ancestors."

"Got Zoey's DNA test and Jazz and Zoey are sisters! 🥹🩷," the Instagram caption added.

After sharing Zoey's story, the dog owner added an Instagram video highlighting how they found Jazz. The owner confessed they "weren't even looking to get a dog," but when they found Jazz's picture online, they "fell in love with her," and "something told me we had to save her."

The owner explained that Jazz was dropped off in front of a shelter "in a kennel in the middle of the night, covered in feces."

"We fell in love with her instantly," the pet parent shares in the video, adding that Jazz is their “forever adventure buddy.”

“We are so excited to share this fun life with Zoey, too," the video concluded.
