Sharland England's Louise Roe on her favourite things
Every month at Red magazine, we ask one of our readers' favourite tastemakers to share their most-loved things for My List Of Everything. From go-to dinner dishes to holiday destinations and mantras to live by, our curated list of Red women have expertly-picked recommendations for you to take inspiration from.
For our April issue, out now, we spoke with Louise Roe, model, fashion commentator and founder of homeware brand, Sharland England. The London-based brand features timeless accessories for the most aesthetically pleasing of homes, and here, Louise shares her guilty-pleasure purchases, signature lipstick and favourite holiday memories...
My signature lipstick is... Perricone MD in Original Pink. It has the texture of lip balm and a very natural finish. I keep it in my bag and wear it all the time.
My foodie weakness is... Mexican. We used to live in Los Angeles where the Mexican food was incredible. Huevos rancheros and tacos are my favourite dishes – they bring back happy memories of fun evenings with friends.

When I send flowers, I use... Flowerbx, which is wonderful. I can order internationally with them, which is very handy. I love Icelandic poppies and ranunculus.
My favourite candle is... Sharland England’s Orange Blossom. It has a lovely spring scent that makes me feel happy. I love lighting it in the morning to start my day as I sit down at my desk with a coffee.

My go-to coffee order is... A simple flat white from The Monocle Cafe (in London). I love Hermanos or Kiss the Hippo coffee.
On my toast, I love to spread... Marmalade on thick-cut bread with lots and lots of butter!
My favourite pair of shoes are... An old pair of black patent Gucci loafers. You can’t buy this style any more, and I found them in Milan. I love to wear them with jeans and a blazer.
The shade I always paint my nails is... Ballet Slippers or Bordeaux from Essie. They’re very pretty and stay shiny for a whole week. I also love short burgundy nails.

The book I always keep by my bedside table is... Delight by JB Priestley. He wrote it after the Second World War to cheer up the British public and it’s full of pithy and funny advice.

My favourite holiday for a weekend away is... The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. It’s decorated beautifully, and they are wonderful with children. It has the best service and is such a special bubble to stay in.
The one thing I can't stop buying for my home is... Vintage bowls and plates. I hang them on the wall in the kitchen and I’ve built quite the collection. I got most of them from antique shops and vintage markets, while some I brought back from holidays. Another favourite source of mine for vintage plates and decor pieces is eBay.
The song that gets me on the dance floor is... Anything by Beyoncé! The first song that pops into my mind is 'Run The World (Girls)'.
My favourite holiday memory is... Skiing. I grew up on the slopes and have the happiest family memories there. I feel so joyous and relaxed when I’m in the mountains. Last year, my husband and I snuck off for a 48-hour getaway to Megève, France, and we had the most amazing time.
My foolproof dinner party dish is... A really good red wine and shepherd’s pie in the winter. My mum makes the best shepherd’s pie, and we usually like placing a couple of trays of it on our kitchen island, letting our guests help themselves.
The mantra I live by is... ‘Have fun or you won’t!’ I saw it written somewhere last year, and it really stuck with me. It’s about trying to make the best of situations and seeing the fun – and the funny side – as much as possible.
