Shania Twain debuts a platinum blonde lob and fans think she looks unrecognisable
While known for her natural brunette locks, Shania Twain has experimented with many different hair looks over recent years. In 2024 alone, we've seen the singer play around with colour (read: she went bubblegum pink earlier in February) and length, too (hi, hello, butt-skimming locks of last week), but today, she's fused the best of both dramatics with a platinum lob look. Yep, you read that right, folks...
In her most recent Instagram post, Shania shared eight images in honour of the latest American Idol episode. "Let’s go Idols!! I’m guest mentoring some fantastic singers, songwriters and musicians on tonight’s @americanidol 🥰 Tune in on ABC," she iconically wrote in the caption of her post.
Now, as excited as we were to watch the show, what had our jaws on the floor at first glance was, of course, the star's dramatic hair change. I mean, she looks pretty much unrecognisable!
The shorter hairstyle is verging on shoulder-length territory, making for a lob (aka, long bob) look – albeit, it's certainly on the longer side of shorter lengths, if you get our vibe. The colour has been bleached to the Gods, too, making for a platinum shade with darker-toned shadow roots. It's the perfect style for those transitioning from brunette to blonde finish. *Chef's kiss*
Having said that, it's worth mentioning (before you go and book in a hair transformation of your own to make like Shania) that this look is most probably a wig. What with work commitments and TV filming taking place weeks – if not months – in advance, for a quick switcheroo, it's more than likely that Shania opted for a temporary change, rather than a full dye/bleach job. This way she's maintaining the integrity and health of her strands!
Alas, whether it's here to stay or just a fleeting style, platinum-blonde Shania certainly has us beckoning 'Let's go girls'. Or maybe we just say that on the daily, who knows...
