Shake Shack Is Bringing Back Our All-Time Favorite Burger for a Limited Time

Shake Shack makes a darn good burger. It’s so good that in a taste test with five other popular fast food chain cheeseburgers, the ShackBurger and its “crispy, flavorful edges” came out on top.

Every once in a while, the restaurant chain switches up its classic burgers, offering limited-time menu items that are darn good, too. This past winter, a Korean BBQ Burger was on the menu. When spring rolled around, Shake Shack added two summer sandwiches to its menu featuring Smoky BBQ Sauce or Carolina Gold BBQ Sauce.

Now that there is a chill in the air once again, the Shack is bringing back what was a favorite among the Allrecipes editors, the Black Truffle Burger—plus adding some other truffle-inspired goodness.

Starting Sept. 10 for those who order on the Shack App, and Sept. 13 no matter how you order, Shake Shack will have four limited-time menu items full of umami-rich truffle flavor.

  • Black Truffle Burger: A cheeseburger with Gruyère, black truffle sauce made with real truffle oil, and crispy sweet onions on a toasted potato bun.

  • Black Truffle ‘Shroom: A crisp-fried portobello mushroom filled with melted Muenster and Cheddar cheese, topped with black truffle sauce made with real truffle oil and shredded lettuce on a toasted potato bun.

  • Black Truffle Shack Stack: A Gruyère cheeseburger topped with a crisp-fried portobello mushroom filled with melted Muenster and Cheddar cheese, topped with black truffle sauce made with real truffle oil on a toasted potato bun.

  • Black Truffle Parmesan Fries: Crinkle-cut fries dusted with Parmesan cheese and served with black truffle sauce made with real truffle oil.

To accompany the truffle-heavy menu, Shake Shack is partnering with Talea Beer Co. of New York City to create a special brew to pair with the sandwiches and fries, a lager with the aromas of truffle. The special beer will be available at select locations in New York City, only.

If you aren’t in NYC, don’t worry about not having access to the special beverage. We always think the best way to enjoy a Shake Shack burger is with one of its famous cold, creamy shakes.
