Sezane teams up with Sea New York to celebrate its 10 years anniversary
We don't want to imagine a time when Sézane wasn't in our lives, but 2023 marks 10 years of the French brand that changed our wardrobes forever.
To celebrate this anniversary, founder Morgane Sézalory has teamed up with her favourite luxury label Sea New York to create a 40-piece limited-edition collection. The first bits launched on 5 February, with more stock following on the eighth, and we're thrilled to say there's a third and final drop coming this Sunday, 12 February.
It's not the first time the pair has come together. Back in 2018, Sézalory collaborated with Sea New York's Sean Monahan and Monica Paolini soon after meeting them for the first time. "It was in Paris where I met Sean and Monica for the first time. A chance encounter that became a beautiful friendship, forged from a shared love for vintage-inspired pieces with a modern edge, " Sézalory tells Red.
So when we say "favourite", we really mean it: Sézalory based the first capsule collection on her very own Sea New York archive. "The tone of the collection was inspired by pieces I had collected over the years from Sea," she explains.
This time around, though, things feel different. If the first collection felt like an homage to Sea New York's bohemian USP, 2023's iteration is a magical mix of both – think Sézane's preppy, Parisian eighties-inspired vibes softened with eclectic styling, ethereal cuts and Sea New York's signature folksy florals and Broderie Anglaise trims.
Choose from quilted coats and co-ords, Pilgrim collar blouses, prairie dresses, crochet knits and made-for-layering vests that are bang on trend right now.
The biggest hits of the collection have to be the Dahlia pieces. A harmonious marriage between two brands exemplified, they combine Sea New York's mesmerising, vintage-inspired tile prints with Sézane's playful cuts. No wonder the jumpsuit, mini dress, blouse and co-ordinating scarf are nearly sold out.
Prices start from £25, admittedly in the accessories department, with the most expensive item, a crochet jumper, ringing in at £205. The collection is affordable given the quality and, frankly, a steal for anyone who's a regular at Sea New York, where similar items retail for three times the price.
And the best news? For 2023, Sézane x Sea New York includes exclusive kids pieces. (No doubt Sézane fans with children are keeping their fingers crossed for more mini collections as a mainstay). We've scooping up the Dahlia mini dress – because who doesn't love a Mini Me look? – the quilted floral jacket and the ruffled prairie blouse before it's too late.
