The Great British Sewing Bee is back on our screens tonight (19 December) as four famous faces join judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant, as well as returning host Sara Pascoe, for the Christmas special.

And with it being the season of giving, Esme and Patrick have been sent a few gifts from the Sewing Bee audience.

Shared to The Great British Sewing Bee’s official Instagram account, the two judges take turns unwrapping the presents they’ve been sent. And it’s certainly given us plenty of last minute gift inspiration.

First up was Esme, who received a small wrapped box with the message: “Dear Esme, you are forever our style icon.” Whereas Patrick’s gift tag was a little more cryptic, with it pronouncing: “Dear Patrick, we hope you have a wheely lovely Christmas”. Any ideas what they might be?

Both judges were certainly intrigued, with Esme wondering whether hers might be a biscuit, because of its size, but how would that fit in with her style icon moniker? Whereas Patrick guesses that his present might be a book, due the “weighty kind of book feel”.

They soon discover that Esme has received a unique and perfectly crafty folded paper necklace, which she immediately puts on and wears proudly. While Patrick was correct that it was a book, with the “wheely” clue relating to the topic of cycling and the Lost Lane series of books, in particular.

Given that Patrick is a keen cyclist and often shares snaps on social media of him cycling through some of the most idyllic parts of the country, the famous duo were both thrilled with their presents.

If that’s gotten you in the festive mood, tonight’s Christmas special will see Steps singer Ian "H" Watkins, EastEnders actor Kellie Bright, TV personality Charlotte Crosby and comedian Fatiha El-Ghorri tackle a number of festively-themed sewing challenges to see who comes out on top. And we can’t wait to see how they get on.

Even though we’ll see Patrick and Esme on-screen before Christmas Day, both were sure to share their well wishes for the festive season, with Esme declaring, “you must all appreciate Christmas and have a rocking good time. And get dancing!”

You don’t have to tell us twice, Esme!

The Great British Sewing Bee Christmas Special is on Thursday 19 December at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
