Contains spoilers for the latest episode of The Great British Sewing Bee.

We're loving seeing the latest series of The Great British Sewing Bee back on our screens – especially the return of brilliant judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young.

This week was Children's Week in the sewing room, and to celebrate, adorable snaps of Patrick, Esme and presenter Kiell Smith-Bynoe as children were shared on the Sewing Bee Instagram page.

Three retro photos were shared, including one of Kiell as a child in a dressing gown, one of a young Esme in a party dress and pearls, and one of Patrick posing with a family member and a cat.

Fans of the show were quick to share how much they loved the snaps – especially Esme's finery, complete with a large necklace and pearl head dress. @snowintheattic commented "Esme, fabulous as ever", while @natters_14 commented "Esme – iconic even back then!"

As part of Children's Week, Esme and Patrick tasked the sewers with making a child's sequin bomber jacket for the Pattern Challenge, followed by animal-themed fancy dress for a toddler for the Transformation Challenge. For the Made to Measure challenge, they had to use a childhood photo as inspiration to create a brand new outfit to fit their mini models.

Pascha won Garment of the Week for her transformation – turning towelling material into a crocodile outfit for a toddler. Sadly, Georgie's creations weren't quite good enough, and she was the latest contestant to be sent home from the competition.

We can't wait to see the sewers' garments in next week's show, in which a place in the quarter-final will be at stake. They will be asked to make a pyjama blouse, create new outfits from shape wear and lace, and sew a bustier dress.

The Great British Sewing Bee is on Tuesdays at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
