Serena Williams and two-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia play tennis in matching outfits

Serena Williams has recruited her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter as her new doubles partner.

On Thursday, the world-renowned athlete shared three photos and a video of herself and daughter Alexis Olympia matching on the tennis courts.

In the photos, both Williams and the toddler can be seen wearing matching purple Nike tennis outfits, with Olympia already showing off her tennis position in a crouching stance.

The pair concluded their tennis game with a high five before walking off the court.

“Caption this (MUST SWIPE RIGHT),” the tennis star captioned the post.

In the comments, fans and family fawned over the adorable display of sportsmanship, with Williams’ sister Venus writing: “I just love her and you too much! If this gets any cuter I will NOT LIVE!”

“If this isn’t the cutest thing I’ve seen,” Dwyane Wade wrote.

In a separate post shared to Olympia’s own Instagram, her dad Alexis Ohanian also shared his support, writing: “Six pack baby stroooooong.”

This is not the first time the 23-time Grand Slam singles winner has matched with her daughter. Last month, the mother-of-one shared a video of her and Olympia wearing identical versions of Belle’s ball gown from Beauty and the Beast.

“Keeping busy,” the 38-year-old captioned the clip amid quarantine.

Williams has previously been open about the struggles of motherhood, explaining in an Instagram post in August 2018 that she was experiencing feelings of inadequacy about her parenting.

“Last week was not easy for me,” Williams wrote. “Not only was I accepting some tough personal stuff, but I just was in a funk. Mostly, I felt like I was not a good mom.

“I read several articles that said postpartum emotions can last up to three years if not dealt with. I like communication best. Talking things through with my mom, my sisters, my friends let me know that my feelings are totally normal.

“It’s totally normal to feel like I’m not doing enough for my baby.”

The professional athlete also acknowledged the impact motherhood has had on her career, and how she often feels like she’s not around enough for her daughter.

She continued: “We have all been there. I work a lot, I train, and I’m trying to be the best athlete I can be.

“However, that means although I have been with her every day of her life, I’m not around as much as I would like to be. Most of you moms deal with the same thing. Whether stay-at-home or working, finding that balance with kids is a true art. You are the true heroes.”

Williams concluded the post reminding parents that it is okay to have a rough day and there’s “always tomorrow”.
