The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, had one of the most impressive celebrity guest-lists to date.

Serena Williams, a close friend of Meghan, attended the nuptials along with Amal Clooney, Oprah, Victoria Beckham and Priyanka Chopra. In a recent interview with InStyle, the athlete revealed what it was like to be part of the wedding that was watched by the world.

“You know, I’ve known Meghan [Markle] for years, so it was good to see my friend happy,” Williams said.

She explained how, like many other guests, she had two outfits prepared for the day.

For the ceremony she chose a Versace dress with a matching headpiece and for the evening reception she opted for a Valentino gown, but chose to opt for comfort when it came to footwear.

She told InStyle: "I worked with [Valentino designer] Pierpaolo Piccioli [for my reception look], and I had a great time. The first thing he showed me, I was like, 'This is it. I don't need anything else.' It was such a big hit."

"I was supposed to wear heels originally, and I'm thinking, 'C'mon, Serena-reception. Heels or shoes? Heels or shoes?' I decided to go with the shoes."

She shared on her Instagram how she often wears trainers under big glamorous gowns and expressed how it's important yourself on social media.

"I think it should just be really fun and not pressured, you know? Sometimes it feels like a lot of pressure."

"It should be what you want, when you want it, and how you want it. That’s kind of how I live my social media life. I just want to be myself."
