Selena Gomez Posts Heartfelt Message About 'Beauty Myth' Following Pictures Of Her Scars

Weeks after her split from Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez is finding time for some well deserved R&R on a private yacht off the coast of Australia.

Yesterday, the 25-year-old was spotted relaxing in a black and orange bikini on the deck of the yacht, which revealed a scar on her inner right thigh from the emergency follow-up operation she had after her 2017 kidney transplant.

This morning, the 'Bad Liar' singer took to Instagram to open up about the world's unrealistic beauty standards and the 'beauty myth' that cripples so many men and women.

The beauty myth- an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty. I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails. ]]>🌈💜
