Selena Gomez auctions off Taylor Swift tickets for $15,000

Selena Gomez auctioned off two tickets to a Taylor Swift concert for $15,000 (£12,300) during a gala for her Rare Impact Fund on Wednesday.

During the Rare Impact Fund Benefit event, Selena's Only Murders in the Building co-star Martin Short served as the auctioneer for two tickets to any future concert featuring the Lover singer, who has been close friends with Selena for years.

After sparking a bidding war, the tickets sold for $15,000 (£12,300) - the highest bid of the night.

The gala was organised with the aim of raising $100 million (£82 million) for the Rare Impact Fund, which benefits youth mental health services.

Other items sold included a lunch with Camila Cabello, a meet-and-greet with Paul Rudd at his next film premiere, and an evening with Coldplay's Chris Martin. Bidding for most prizes started at $5,000 (£4,100).

During the event, the first benefit for the fund, Selena said in a speech, "This has been the culmination of a lifelong dream for me, but it has also stemmed from some of the darkest moments in my life. I struggled with the world inside my head for a long time. I felt lost, I felt hopeless at times. In 2020, I received my diagnosis of bipolar disorder. And to be honest, everything quickly changed. I actually got the knowledge and the answers that I had been desperate for for so long."

She continued, "I'm less afraid than I used to be with that knowledge, I could seek out the support I needed to be myself, to find my joy again. Today, I'm very proud to say that I have, and I'm working really hard every day, and I'm so happy just to be alive and to be here with you guys today."
