Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande offer modern takes on Chanel tweed
Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande both got dressed in head-to-toe Chanel for the Academy Women’s Luncheon, hosted in partnership with the French fashion house and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences yesterday in Los Angeles. In the process, the duo gave us two modern spins on Chanel’s famous tweed uniform.
Gomez once again embraced the preppy black-and-white style that she’s been relying on all season long. This time, the Emilia Pérez star’s look consisted of a black tweed skirt suit, featuring a cropped jacket with a sharp white collar and arm cuffs as well as a pencil skirt with buttons down the side of her hip.
She kept the colour theme going with the bottom half of her outfit, wearing sheer black tights and a pair of white Mary Jane platform pumps with a black toe cap. Her jewellery was kept to a minimum—save for the array of twinkly star-shaped diamond rings arranged across her fingers.
As for Grande, the Wicked star opted for a mini dress, selecting a sleeveless shift made out of speckled blue-and-white material. The feminine piece featured boxy square pockets, each accented by an ornate button, and a diving V-shaped neckline. To complete the look, she added sheer tights, black leather heels, a large black hair bow, and a small quilted Chanel bag.
The luncheon brought together women from the film industry to celebrate the Academy Gold Fellowship for Women, a program that provides financial support, mentorship services, and networking opportunities for women filmmakers on the rise.
