The house featured in "Home Alone" has officially sold, seven months after it was put on the market and just in time for Christmas.

The 5-bedroom, 6-bathroom house located in Winnetka, Illinois was put up for sale at $5.25 million late May, according to the Zillow listing. The home's exterior was used as the McCallister's family home in both the 1990 Christmas classic "Home Alone," and the 1992 sequel "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York."

The "Home Alone" house received national attention shortly after it was listed, leading listing agents from Coldwell Banker Realty to receive an offer less than a week after it was listed, according to People.

Even Macaulay Culkin, who played Kevin McCallister in the films, thought about buying the house when it first hit the market.

"I had half a mind to buy it − just for giggles," he told Entertainment Weekly earlier this month. "I got kids. I'm a busy man."

"We’re thrilled with the way this home captured everyone’s attention and hearts due to its well-deserved place in cinematic history and the timeless holiday memories it evokes," said listing agents Dawn McKenna and Katie Moor in a statement obtained by People.

Coldwell Banker Realty did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment.

The "Home Alone" house was built in 1921 and is over 9,000 square feet. It also features four fireplaces, two laundry rooms, two hot tubs, a wet bar, recreation space, a gym, a private movie theater room and an indoor sports court.

Coldwell Banker Realty described the home as "legendary holiday dream home, reimagined for modern-day luxury" in its online listing.

"The stately brick Georgian residence of 'Home Alone' fame brings forward a rare opportunity to own one of the most iconic movie residences in American pop culture," the listing reads. "Nestled on a picturesque, tree-lined street in the heart of east Winnetka and elegantly poised behind a wrought-iron gate, the property epitomizes classic Chicago suburban architecture."
