A first look at Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson's next lead movie role in My Mother's Wedding has been released.

The movie follows three "romantically dysfunctional" sisters who return to their childhood home for their mother's (played by Kristin Scott Thomas) third wedding.

Johansson will play Katherine, one of the three sisters and a Royal Navy Captain. Meanwhile, Sienna Miller (Anatomy of a Scandal) will play Hollywood star Victoria, and Emily Beecham (Cruella) will round out the sister trio as Georgina, a palliative nurse.

The official synopsis reads: "Over the weekend, the family gathers to celebrate a new marriage, but mother and daughters alike are forced to revisit the past and confront the future, with help from a colourful group of unexpected wedding guests."

The first look at the film shows the three actresses in action as the sisters, who appear to be unimpressed with something that's going on at the dinner table.

Joining the star-studded cast are Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Sindhu Vee (Sex Education), Joshua McGuire (Anatomy of a Scandal), Mark Stanley (Game of Thrones), Thibault de Montalembert (The King) and Samson Kayo (The Bubble).

My Mother's Wedding also marks Scott Thomas's directorial debut.

"I have wanted to direct for a long time and it was thrilling to create this fictional family using my own childhood memories as a springboard," she shared. "Directing and acting with such talented actresses and reuniting with Scarlett Johansson has been exhilarating."

Johansson currently has multiple projects in the works, including the upcoming Apple TV+ space race movie Project Artemis, which she'll star in alongside her Marvel co-star Chris Evans.

She is also due to star in Wes Anderson's Asteroid City, and it was announced by Kevin Feige last year that the actress is working on a new Marvel project.
