The Invictus Games are back! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in British Columbia, Canada for the first ever winter edition of the international adaptive sport competition, a cause very near and dear to Harry's heart since he founded the Games in 2014.
"The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will offer a global platform to expand the range and profile of winter adaptive sports," the Duke of Sussex said in a statement when the games were announced. "With deep respect, I’m also pleased to share that the Games in Canada will be held in partnership with the First Nations, in the spirit of truth and reconciliation with indigenous communities." This year's Invictus Games will be held in partnership with four First Nations: the Lil̓wat7úl (Líl̓wat), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh).

Prince Harry and Meghan attended a welcome reception on the eve of the Invictus Games. "I was not planning on speaking tonight," Meghan said in her remarks introducing Prince Harry. "We just arrived a couple of hours ago and I touched Canadian soil and I went, 'feels like home.'"

“Prince Harry has been absolutely amazing,” Baquero-Cruz told T&C. “His support for wounded warriors, for the visibly wounded and the invisibly wounded or ill—just getting us back outside, getting us to conquer our anxieties and challenges. He is a champion for us. Getting to finally meet him was really special.”
Harry and Meghan were in the crowds at the opening ceremony, cheering on the competitors and watching the musical performances.
Meghan documented the festivities on her iPhone.
Harry looked emotional as he watched MCpl James Gendron play the bagpipes.
The Sussexes shared a kiss before Harry left his seat to go speak on stage.
Prince Harry delivered a speech during the opening ceremony, where he quoted Toni Morrison.
"Someone once asked Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison how we survive whole in the world," Harry said. "She replied: 'Sometimes, you don’t survive whole, you just survive in part. But the grandeur of life is that attempt. It’s not about that solution. It is about being as fearless as one can, and behaving as beautifully as one can, under completely impossible circumstances.'"
He hugged a Team Canada competitor after he spoke.
