The Seasonal Costco Treat Our Editors Are Stocking Their Freezers With

Just like the holidays, these will be gone in a flash, so don’t wait.

When does a dessert usually associated with summer squarely become a winter holiday treat? When peppermint bark is part of it. For those unfamiliar with peppermint bark, it’s usually made by crushing up peppermint candy and sprinkling the pieces over a layer of melted chocolate. The candy-studded chocolate hardens and becomes a solid sheet that’s broken into scrumptious pieces.

A few years back, Häagen-Dazs released Peppermint Bark Ice Cream, a creamy white chocolate ice cream full of crispy dark chocolate and peppermint candy pieces. At the same time, the Brooklyn-based ice cream company also added a Peppermint Bark Ice Cream Bar, full of the same flavors but configured just a bit differently.

Now, that bar is back at Costco.

Häagen-Dazs Peppermint Bark Ice Cream Bars Are Back at Costco

The Häagen-Dazs Peppermint Bark Ice Cream Bar has a white chocolate ice cream center surrounded by a crunchy coating of dark chocolate embedded with pieces of peppermint candy. When Instagram’s Costobuys posted a video showing the bars had returned to Costco’s freezer section, followers were very excited.

“These are amazing. I bought them yesterday!!!!!” exclaimed one commenter. “Best. Dessert. Ever.” and “Uh oh, I'm in trouble... I could eat the whole box” were comments made by others.

Costcobuys’ followers aren’t the only ones excited about these ice cream bars.

Allrecipes Senior Editor Devon O’Brien said, “I wanted them so badly last year but we didn't have enough freezer space. This year I have a whole extra garage freezer that I'm definitely loading up with these bad boys!” Editor Andrea Lobas responded, “Ummmmm yes please. These will be a must, I already love the regular version.”

If you’ve ever bought Häagen-Dazs at a regular grocery store rather than a warehouse club, you know that they can cost around $5 for a box of three bars. Costco’s price for these “bad boys” is $14.49 for 15 individually wrapped ice cream bars, making them under $1 per bar! That’s a really good price for this decadent ice cream bar that we think would be an unexpected but welcomed dessert at the end of a holiday meal—one that’s inexpensive and doesn’t require any work!

If these bars appeal to you, don’t wait. According to the Häagen-Dazs product page, the Peppermint Bark Ice Cream Bars are a limited-edition flavor available only from October to December, and by December, they may be sold out.
