Scott Mills has revealed the one thing he’ll miss most about Swansea as his Christmas pantomime stint draws to an end. The nation's favourite DJ and radio presenter took on the role of Mayor Mills over seven weeks in the 2024 pantomime Jack and The Beanstalk at the Swansea Grand theatre.

After the last show on January 5, the star said he was gutted for it all to be over. Posting on Facebook, Scott described how much he will miss this era of his life but also some Welsh classics too. Scott said: "Jack and the Beanstalk 2024 DONE! What a phenomenal seven weeks with this brilliant crew, both on and off stage. Swansea… thank you for being the place I got to call home for a short time. I will miss how friendly absolutely everyone is and the Welshcakes!

"I’ve learnt so much from every single one of this extremely talented cast, who have been so kind and generous - knowing that I didn’t have too much rehearsal time, and helping me in whatever way they could when they could see I was struggling or not confident with something. I won’t forget that." For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter

This year Swansea Grand transported audiences to ‘Merry Mumbles’, telling the story of the Trotts, who are so poor they have to consider selling their beloved family cow, Buttercup, to survive, all whilst a giant terrifies the village. The panto saw Scott swap the decks of the BBC for ‘Merry Mumbles FM’, portraying the character of Mayor Mills arriving on stage in a glittery DJ booth, where he also got into the Welsh lingo using phrases like ‘ych a fi’ and ‘minging’.

Scott continued: "Panto is magic. Yes it’s long days, many shows a week, hard work, constant enthusiasm when you’re tired and tons of caffeine. But it’s also camaraderie, laughing until your sides hurt, and seeing childrens faces light up because you’re part of their Christmas excitement. It’s such a special part of the festive season.

"For many, pantomime is their first time at a theatre. Not only that, it allows the theatre in YOUR area to keep going for the rest of the year, long after the costumes the wigs and the glitter have gone. Huge thanks also to all at Swansea Grand Theatre for being the loveliest, and of course Eric, Laura and all the brilliant lot @imaginetheatre."

This year's pantomine isn't Scott's first experience on the stage; he made his first panto debut back in 2023 and described it as ‘terrifying’ at first. He said that learning a whole show like that in such little time was like nothing he had ever done before but that he has made new friends for life.

Posting on Tripadvisor, fans raved about Scott's performance in Jack and The Beanstalk. One review said: “It was so fun last night, so glad that I didn't get wet. Haha! I really loved it. The cast has been amazing! Scott Mills who is Mayor Mills [has] been amazing." You can read our review of this year's pantomime here.
