Scotland to face seven day snow bomb as new weather maps predict 29 inch flurries
Scots can now start to brace for winter, as new weather maps show a week long snow flurry hitting the country.
November has been a mixed bag weather wise, with temperatures fluctuating between above average and below freezing. The latest reports show an area of high pressure bringing some bright spells on Monday (November 11) and through the week, but this is set to change drastically the following week.
From then, a widespread barrage of the white stuff is to descend on Scotland that is to last for over seven days, with the north expected to see the brunt.

The latest data from WX Charts indicate the first snow to fall at midnight on Monday, November 18, starting in the Highlands and spreading south as the night goes on. Snow fall is set to reach a maximum of 30cm (11 inches), with Grampian also set to see a high volume.
By Tuesday, November 19, northern snow fall is set to intensify, with maximum snow fall to climb to 41cm (16 inches), with the most continuing to fall in the same areas. While snow will begin to fall in the south as far as Carlisle, this will be a lot lighter, averaging between one and five centimetres.
Snow will continue to increase before reaching its apex by Sunday, November 24, where the most affected areas, which include the Highlands, Grampian, Tayside and the north of Strathclyde will see up to a combined 76cm (29 inches) fall in a single day. The flurries will begin to ease up by Monday and into next week, but maps show that snow is still set to stick around.
The Met Office is also anticipating snow for this time, but reports that any seen won't be as heavy as predicted by WX Charts.
Its long range forecast for Friday, November 15 until Sunday, November 24, reads: "Turning more unsettled into next weekend with low pressure probably becoming established close to the UK bringing rain or showers to most regions. The heaviest and most frequent spells of rain are most likely in the north and west.
"Drier and brighter spells of weather remain possible, particularly in southern regions. Some wintry precipitation is possible in places, with snow most likely to fall over high ground in the north. The chance of any widespread or disruptive snowfall is very low.
"Often windy, with a chance of gales at times, especially in the north and east. Temperatures probably near or below average with overnight patchy frost and ice."
