Science says eating yellow foods makes you happier

Yellow food is food of the gods, from macaroni cheese to pancakes or eggs - and now that the days have got colder and darker, we’re getting ready to stuff our faces with it more.

And apparently, it makes us happier, too - and not just because it’s so delicious.

According to research by The Happy Egg Company, eating yellow foods releases high levels of happy hormones as we associate bright colours with happiness.

SAD sufferers - take note.

The study found that a huge 70% of us link sunny-coloured foods to feeling joyful, while omelettes were the most happy-inducing food.

Macaroni cheese came next in popularity, followed by bananas and pancakes, and over two thirds of us want to see more yellow food in our fridge.

Interestingly, 30% of people associate yellow with happiness over any other colour - which psychologists believe is because we make positive associations with it from a young age thanks to brightly-coloured toys and the warmth of sunshine.

Well, we didn’t need scientists’ help for us to know that macaroni cheese makes us happy, but hey, we’ll take that information to heart as well.
