Milan's Menswear Fashion Week might have been a little quieter than usual, with some designers including Giorgio Armani opting to cancel their shows altogether due to Coronavirus concerns, but Prada ensured that the week ended with a bang – and a good few surprise cameos from some of Hollywood's biggest stars.

For Prada's second-ever IRL show since Raf Simons joined Miuccia Prada as co-creative director, no fewer than 10 Hollywood actors hit the runway to showcase the new collection – promptly sending the internet into a minor meltdown.

Opening the show was the brilliant Kyle MacLachlan, best known for his lead role in Twin Peaks and, of course, playing the unfortunate Trey MacDougal in Sex And The City. A hint at a possible return in the show's reboot And Just Like That, or mere coincidence? Whichever the case, MacLachlan oozed timeless elegance and a rather dashing blue steel expression on the catwalk, modelling a classic black coat layered on top of a silky blue suit and patterned polo neck.

Other Hollywood stars to make cameos on the Prada AW22 runway were Thomas Brodie-Sangster (of Love Actually and The Queen's Gambit fame) and British Sex Education actor Asa Butterfield, as well as Damson Idris, Tom Mercier, Jaden Michael, Louis Partridge, Ashton Sanders and Filippo Scotti – while the legendary Jeff Goldblum closed the show in a fashion-forward, shearling-trimmed all-black look.

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons' AW22 collection was centred around the future of workwear, with the Hollywood stars being brought in as 'real men, recognised figures, [who] bring a new facet of reality' – actors being 'interpreters of reality, employed to echo truth through their portrayals,' as Prada put it.

While WFH has significantly changed most of our concepts of workwear, any form of suiting or formal dressing being largely replaced with loungewear, Prada's latest collection looked to a post-pandemic future and the reinvention of the traditional work uniform.

Boiler suits got an elegant, lightweight makeover in colourful silks, leathers and prints, while structured suits were replaced by flowy satins in cheering brights and topped with classic overcoats.

Just what we needed to lure us out of those cashmere two-pieces and head back to the office in style.
