MONDAY

Had the absolutely spectacular idea to take a Bank Holiday jaunt to Bristol. It’s one of the best ideas I’ve ever had. Lovely, excellent Bristol. What a dream you are. Spent four glorious days eating all the ice cream, fudge, Lancashire poacher, cider and beef wellington. Went to a record shop and was utterly delighted to see they also sell vintage bedspreads. What a USP. Bought two and told the chap it was an excellent idea. He seemed proud. The weather was gorgeous so now assume Bristol is sunny all the time. Like California. Even got a mug which says Bristol on it. Lovely sausage roll on the train home.

TUESDAY

Back to work with quite the joie de vivre. Did a workout, planned dinner and put three suitcases outside with a note saying “take me I’m yours!” They were gone within the hour. Added a cat basket which was bought four years ago when there were big plans to adopt one. Someone pointed out cat hair can be a bind which put me off so the cat basket was somewhat premature. Yet to be taken. And it’s brand new. Sausages for dinner. Bought from the butchers down the road who waved one at me to demonstrate the quality. Was impressive. No midweek drinking so had an extra sausage.

WEDNESDAY

Woke up in the middle of the night worried there was something of great value left in a pocket of the suitcases. A passport, family heirloom, some good slippers. No way of knowing now. Am trying again with the cat basket. Displayed the unused parts from inside to demonstrate how new it is. We shall see. Made it to 1.30PM today before realising hadn’t had a single cup of tea. No wonder felt odd. Made one and had another immediately afterwards. Have lost my headphones. Looked through three handbags but they’ve gone. Got on the train and had to listen to a man watching wrestling on his phone. Asked him to turn it down and he couldn’t have been nicer. Ordered new headphones nevertheless.

THURSDAY

Watched a makeup tutorial on Instagram last night. Was the first one have ever made it to the end of. Usually it’s all contouring with 18 different brushes and too much faff but this one was very doable. Had a go this morning and very pleased with myself. The bedroom carpet has got to go. It’s like ryvita. Went down to see the carpet man and completely forgot to take the measurements. He was very sweet about it and asked me to describe the room. But also emphasised he really would need the measurements. Spag bol for tea. Ate it at 4.40PM. Like a nan. It was amazing, can see why they do it.

FRIDAY

Have become quite taken with the idea of pickling. People seem to be really getting into and had some lovely pickled red onion in Bristol. Lovely Bristol. Have declared a No Spend policy for the foreseeable. Reneged on this immediately and ordered some leopard print sandals from Next because Lauren Laverne posted about them. Brand new headphones arrived. Found the old ones in my bag seconds later. It never ends. Made it to Friday without drinking so celebrated with a glass of crémant. Thank goodness for the four day week.

PLANS FOR THE WEEKEND:

● Watch Special on Netflix

● Rehome cat basket

● Buy any remaining Cadbury’s Caramel eggs

● Drink

● Investigate pickling
