Samsung just revealed its new phones for 2025
At Samsung’s first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, the brand revealed three new smartphones and a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features that are integrated throughout the handsets and the One UI 7 operating system.
The new phones unveiled at the showcase are the new Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
This family of smartphones are direct successors to the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra from 2024, improving on the existing options with a faster processor, 12GB of RAM in every device, improved gaming features, new cooling systems to keep the phones from overheating and camera upgrades.
The designs are very similar and many of the specs are the same. These are relatively minor incremental upgrades, something that’s been the norm across tech brands for some time now.
You’re unlikely to have a reason to upgrade unless your phone is a much older model. Of course, Samsung will be hoping that its newest AI features will be enough for phone users to consider an upgrade too. Here’s everything to know about the new features.
New Galaxy AI features
All of Samsung’s new phones have fresh “Galaxy AI” upgrades implemented throughout their One UI operating system. At the launch, Samsung said there are 200 million Galaxy AI devices in use around the world, and five million of us in the UK are using Galaxy AI features like “Circle to Search” and “Live Translate” on our devices.
With its latest releases, Samsung claims to have made a “true AI companion with the most natural and context-aware mobile experiences”. These changes may have the potential to change the way you use your phone but, like other AI developments, there’s also a chance you might not get a lot of use from them. Time will tell.
There's a lot of techy jargon to sift through with these new Samsung phones and their AI features. To cut through some of the noise, we’d describe the changes as ways to turn your smartphone into a more contextually-aware assistant – here are the highlights.
You’ll be able to describe photos you want to search for in natural language, Circle to Search will understand phone numbers, email and URLs on your screen, and “cross-app actions” will help you perform complex tasks more quickly.
For example, you could ask to find the schedule for a football team’s matches and have them all added to your calendar – it should be able to do this instantly after you say it once, simplifying a detailed task that would usually have many steps.
The new “Now Brief” will offer you a “personalised briefing” that updates throughout the day. For example, when you wake up, it should give you insights on how you slept, when to leave to get to work on time, and your “Energy Score” for the day.
At the end of the day, it should be able to recap what you’ve done and the photos you’ve taken, while informing you about what’s on your schedule for the next day.
This kind of personalised artificial intelligence looks at your context, preferences and how you use your phone, and Samsung says all your data is kept private and secure.
“Modern life is hard. Balancing work and home is incredibly overwhelming, and we’re all looking for ways to help us juggle life’s demands.” says Samsung UK’s Annika Bizon. “We’ve reached a point now where AI has evolved to become a companion – it's knowing intuitively what you need, and when. It’s lightening your load so you can focus on the things that matter, at your own pace.“
Samsung Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus
What about the actual phones? Well, we doubt you’ll be able to tell much difference between the designs of the S25 series of phones and the S24 models that they succeed – they look almost indistinguishable from one another, aside from the new colours on offer.
They have the same strong Gorilla Glass Victus 2 in use on the front and rear of the device and the same battery capacities as the S24 phones. The Galaxy S25 has a 6.2-inch display and the Galaxy S25 Plus comes with a 6.7-inch screen (the same as the previous generation) and both come in 256GB and 512GB storage options, while the S25 is also available starting at 128GB of space.
On the inside, you’ll start to see some changes. They’ve got the “Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor” that’s also in the premium Ultra, plus an improved 12GB of RAM to power the AI features. Aside from these tweaks, though, there aren’t many significant hardware changes over the current Samsung Galaxy S24 or S24 Plus.
Mobile gaming performance is improved on the newest phones too, while the increased power in the processor allows the Galaxy S25 series to carry out more AI tasks on the device rather than relying on an internet connection.

There are camera improvements to reduce the amount of grainy “noise” you see in images, and videos in low-light conditions should also be clearer. There’s an “Audio Eraser” too, to control distracting sounds like crowd noise and wind in the background of your videos.
When it comes to the colours, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus will be available in Silver Shadow, Navy, Icy Blue and Mint. The Galaxy S25 starts at £799 for the 128GB version, while the Galaxy S25 Plus starts at £999 for 256GB of space.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
Unless you know which specific differences to look out for, we also don’t think many people are going to be able to see what’s changed about the Galaxy S25 Ultra compared to the S25 Ultra. Both devices have very similar designs, although the corners of the screen on the new S25 Ultra are ever so slightly more rounded.
Like the previous generation, the top-tier flagship Samsung phone is the largest one made by the brand, and includes a handy S Pen stylus for jotting down notes when you’re on the go. It has a system of four cameras on the back, plus a 12-megapixel front camera.
One of these cameras is upgraded, with the phone adding a new 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera that’s capable of super-detailed close-up photography. In general, all zoom results from the cameras should be improved, and the S25 Ultra has all the camera upgrades we’ve already discussed from the S25 and S25 Plus.
The new phone appears to also have a marginally bigger screen, at 6.9 inches compared to the 6.8-inch screen on the S24 Ultra. This is a little debatable, though, as the full rectangle of the display is 6.9 inches when measured diagonally, but 6.8 inches when you factor in the rounded corners. Essentially, it’s a difference you don’t need to worry about.
There’s also a new finish available for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The new Corning Gorilla Armor 2 is meant to be stronger than glass, and combines ceramic and glass with an anti-reflective treatment. The phone will be available in the colours of Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Black, Titanium Whitesilver and Titanium Grey. And there are some extra shades available as online exclusives (more on those below).
