Get a sample workout from Gemma Atkinson's exclusive training plan
At forty, Gemma Atkinson is feeling fitter and stronger in her body than she's ever been. Openly embracing the aging process as she enters her fifth decade, she's now fully focussed on building a future-proofed body. 'I want my body to be functional. I want to play with my kids and carry all the shopping bags of food out of the car. That’s always my aim with training,’ she tells us, as she graces the cover of Women's Health for the third time this month.
To help her achieve this, Gemma enlisted the help of PT Elliott Upton, who delivers a personalised plan of workouts comprising strength, cardio, speed and conditioning, and muscle-building (hypertrophy) workouts each week, which she follows religiously in her home gym.
With over a decade's worth of experience at training, Elliott Upton specializes in helping women build better body compositions at any age. Follow him at @elliottupton.
Now, we've got Elliott's four-week plan exclusively for members, taken from an example month in training for Gemma. Comprising four workouts a week, it's just the right level of challenging to help you become your strongest, fittest self in 2025.
Want to try it for yourself? We've included a preview of two of the workouts below: a strength session to help you build muscle and a speed and conditioning workout to supercharge your cardio health. Both are 45 minutes long and require free weights, but no machines, so if you have access to this equipment at home you can do the workout there.
