Sam Thompson seen looking miserable amid rumours he and Zara McDermott have split – as she leaves the UK
Sam Thompson has been spotted looking ‘miserable’ as he and girlfriend Zara McDermott are rumoured to be having ‘crisis talks’ over their relationship.
The former Made in Chelsea star was spotted walking down the street looking rather sombre in a grey tracksuit and airpods in his ears, looking down to the floor.
It’s a different story on Zara’s Instagram however, as she recently posted stunning pictures of herself in a red dress exploring the streets of Palma, Spain.
“Exploring Palma,” she captioned the stunning photos, with a strawberry emoji.
Sam was recently seen looking upset during last month’s TRIC Awards, while bestie Pete Wicks consoled him with a warm embrace. Speculation began spreading that his tears were due to an earlier argument with Zara, as she was pictured pointing her finger at him after the Soccer Aid party. However, the couple quickly shut those rumours down as Zara insisted she was giving her partner a pep talk.
“It looks like we are having an argument but I’m telling him positive affirmations in a very passionate manner,” she said.
The I’m A Celebrity winner has now broken his silence on the TRIC Awards pics.
On the latest episode of Staying Relevant, Sam admitted that he had got some 'really bad news' on the day of the TRIC Awards, and was feeling 'really sad,’ however, he didn’t want to miss the big day.
"Firstly, there's no way of getting around it, I had actually received some bad news, so I actually was really sad, I'm not going to lie about it, but I was,” he told loyal fans and listeners.
"I wasn't crying though, I wasn't actually crying. I just want to let everyone know that now," he added.
Although the star didn’t divulge what the ‘bad news’ was, he did praise the TOWIE star for being such a good friend to him during the difficult time.
"He's being such a good mate and saying he's always there for me and I'm feeling really sorry for myself,” Sam gushed.
In recent days it has been reported Sam and Zara, who started dating in 2019, are going through ‘relationship crisis talks’. “Since Christmas Zara and Sam have been really busy with work and have had little quality time to see each other and as a result their relationship has suffered,” a source told The Sun.
“They’ve both wanted to make the most of their careers and say yes to all the exciting opportunities offered to them.
“Last weekend it came to a head and they had a big row. It was very upsetting and they needed some time to let the dust settle."
Zara then headed off to Mallorca for a modelling job, before returning home.
The pair started dating in 2019, although they briefly split when Zara cheated on Sam with a music label boss she met during her time on X Factor: Celebrity, where she formed a band with fellow Love Island contestants, Samira Mighty, Eyal Booker and Wes Nelson.
The emotional scenes played out on E4 reality show Made in Chelsea as Zara begged Sam to take her back in tears on the park bench.
In December 2020, the pair got back together, as Sam told MailOnline at the time: “I believe in forgiveness. I understand the context – and I think in any walk of life you can't move forward unless you forgive.”
