Sam’s Club’s New $15 Holiday Bakery Showstopper Rivals Williams Sonoma's $90 Version
It's the perfect dessert to pass off as homemade.
The doors left on your Advent calendar are dwindling which means the holidays are rapidly approaching. If you haven’t started your menu planning or holiday baking yet, now is the time to at least make the grocery list. Luckily, not every holiday item has to be made from scratch. In fact, some store-bought foods might even be better than if you made them yourself.
Take the holiday Yule log, for example. It’s a gorgeous, showstopping dessert that will wow your guests—but, let’s be honest, it's a beast to make yourself. Between baking the cake, perfecting the roll, and channeling your inner “Cake Boss” for the design, you're looking at hours of precious time. And, if you’re like me, your Yule log might end up looking like something you’d see on “Nailed It!” not “Ace of Cakes.”
So, if you want to leave the Yule log up to the professionals, a store-bought version will be just as impressive. And, no, it doesn’t have to cost you $90 per cake.
Sam's Club Releases New Yule Log Cake
As if our dessert table wasn’t already filled with enough Sam’s treats—like the hot cocoa cake balls and French silk pie—the club store just introduced the ultimate centerpiece for your holiday party: a 34-ounce chocolate Yule log.
The stunning dessert is baked fresh in stores and features a luscious chocolate sponge cake filled with vanilla buttercream and topped with decadent milk chocolate buttercream. The rolled cake is decorated with a tree bark-like texture, frosting flowers, and a dusting of powdered sugar snow—and is finished with a “happy holidays” chocolate piece.
Besides the beautiful design that perfectly showcases the buttercream swirl and delicious flavor, Sam’s members are raving about the dessert for its affordable price. The 34-ounce cake is only $14.98 and feeds 10-12 people. Typically, if you buy a pre-made Yule log cake, it can run you upwards of $50—the popular Williams Sonoma version costs a whopping $89.95. However, Sam’s Club members say the Member’s Mark version is just as tasty for more than half the price.
“I bought two Yule logs for a Christmas party: one at Sam’s [and] one from another place that was double the price. Sam’s was hands-down the best around. The taste was fantastic. It was super fresh. It looks beautiful and it was literally double the size of the other stores for half the price. Worth every dime,” one reviewer wrote.
The $15 showstopper is available at Sam’s Club stores nationwide now for a limited time—likely through Christmas. So, if you’re looking for a way to impress your family and friends without trying your hand at a classic bûche de Noël recipe—or forking over a pretty penny—you better add this chocolate Yule log to your nice list before it heads back to the North Pole.
