Salma Hayek's No. 1 skin care trick hinges on an unexpected ingredient — get it on sale for just $15

Salma Hayek might be 57 (yes, seriously), but she looks ageless. According to the superstar, her youthful glow is au naturale. "I have no Botox, no peels, no fillers," the actress told Elle. But that doesn't mean she skips skin care favorites. Salma depends on her longtime beauty routine, which includes one unexpected step: A spritz of rose water in the mornings. We found a 100% pure rose water spray that'll have you springing out of bed like Salma, and it's on sale for just $15 at Amazon.

Salma didn't mention the specific brand of rose water she uses, but we imagine it would be something like this — 100% pure and organic.

Stars like Salma generally pay big bucks to achieve their ageless look — but a skin care secret that we can try for ourselves for only $15, down from $19? That's practically priceless. It certainly beats the hundreds of dollars that premium products and procedures usually cost.

Salma Hayek's rose-water secret might be surprising, but she swears by it: "I never cleanse my skin in the morning," the actress told The New York Times. “My grandmother taught me that at night, your skin replenishes all the things you lost during the day. Also, if I cleanse very well at night, why would it be dirty when I wake up?" So what does she do when she wants to refresh her skin in the morning? "I spritz rose water — it's so gentle and wakes the skin up."

Her NYT interview wasn't the only instance when the actress shared the virtues of washing up at night — she's mentioned this part of her routine several times over the years:

"Wash your skin really well at night, but don't wash the hard work off your skin in the morning," she advised. And her chosen product for washing off the day in the evening is the same as what she uses in the morning: rose water.

"I use rose water to take off the residuals [of my makeup]," Hayek said. "You can use a hot towel with the rose water — you put a wet towel in the microwave — to do a little steam." Sounds heavenly!

What makes rose water Salma's go-to skin soother? This simple ingredient has a wide range of benefits, especially where the skin is concerned. Perhaps the biggest is its anti-inflammatory properties, which make it a great helper for soothing irritation, reducing redness and puffiness and even healing cuts and burns faster, thanks to its antiseptic and antibacterial abilities. Rose water may have anti-aging benefits too: According to one study, it may reduce the appearance of wrinkles when used topically.

Leven Rose's Pure Rose Water Spray is 100% natural rose water sourced from Moroccan roses. There are no added perfumes, oils or alcohols. It's a great source of antioxidants and essential fatty acids, along with vitamins A, C, D and B6. It's also safe for just about any skin type, whether you struggle with dryness, oiliness or general sensitivity (just be certain you're not allergic to roses).

You don't have to take our (or Salma's!) word for it, though — despite only containing a single ingredient, nearly 10,000 Amazon shoppers have given this refreshing spray a flawless five-star rating.

"I have been using it for the last three years and it is awesome," said one reviewer. "It is very pure, no alcohol added, it soothes and really moisturizes my skin. I use it every morning and night after cleaning my face. ... I am 78 years old and have been using rose water all my life, but this one is just way above every other."

Another fan called the rose water a "refreshing beauty essential," adding, "It's made from pure natural Moroccan rosewater, which gives it this amazing scent and feels so refreshing on my skin. I love using it as a face mist throughout the day to keep my skin hydrated and to give it a little pick-me-up. Plus, I've started using it on my hair too, and it leaves it feeling soft and smelling great."

"I use this product post-shower to keep my 60-plus aging face lightly moisturized after the drying effect of soap and showering," said another user. "Its light touch is perfect for my fair, sensitive skin, and the scent is lovely."

Your mileage may vary when it comes to how rose water affects your skin, said one Amazon customer: "When I sprayed my face it started burning everywhere! ... I don't have any allergies or sensitive skin issues, so I don't know why my skin reacted like this." They later added, "The seller reached out to me and let me know that I potentially have an allergy to the rose flower used in their product. I have never used a product with rose in it, so it's definitely possible." (Pro tip: Always test any skin care product before use — simply use a small amount on the back of your hand to make sure you don't have a reaction.)

Another shopper added that they didn't love the quality of the pump that comes with the bottle. "It's my only negative for this product," they lamented. "The pump is way too much of a spray, and should be more of a mist."

To borrow from Ethel Merman: "You got nothing to do but relax! Blow a kiss, take a bow — honey, everything's coming up roses!"
