For true beauty aficionados, it doesn’t get much better than when celebs with gorgeous skin let us in on their secrets — especially when we get specifics on their routine. Salma Hayek recently spoke to the New York Times all about the nitty gritty details of her beauty regimen only to reveal that she doesn’t wash her face in the morning — she uses rose water instead. What a time to be alive.

Firstly, allow us to blow your mind by reminding you that this goddess is 50 years old. She looks absolutely incredible, and more importantly you can see she lives a happy and full life. We are writing down every bit of information we she’ll give us.

Salma Hayek revealed that it’s on the advice of her grandmother that she washes her face with rose water.

She tells the New York Times,

“I never cleanse my skin in the morning. My grandmother taught me that at night your skin replenishes all the things you lost during the day. Also, if I cleanse very well at night, why would it be dirty when I wake up? It’s for companies to have you use more products. I spritz rose water — it’s so gentle and wakes the skin up.”

A very reasonable explanation, and one that we are seeing crop up in the beauty world. Increasingly, we are hearing from experts that face washing in the morning should be quite minimal so as to not strip the skin of its natural oils.

Salma goes into further detail about her routine, which includes moisturizer, an oil from her line, Nuance, and sunscreen only when she’s going to spend a lot of time outdoors. We love finding celebs with pared-down beauty routines. It makes sense, given the amount of makeup and products she needs to wear when she’s promoting a film. She only wears a bit of foundation and blush when she’s off-duty, and her faves include Charlotte Tilbury and Kevyn Aucoin.

Another super interesting reveal on Salma’s part is that she goes to a Japanese masseuse who is so effective, she can even change the shape of her face. Salma says to the NY Times:

“She massages your face. It’s a little crazy while you’re doing it…Once she asked me, ‘Do you like your jaw more square or more round?’ After she was done, you could see the difference!”

Now that’s not something you hear every day!
