Sainsbury's has a brand new gin flavour - and it sounds like the perfect summer drink
Fresh off winning Best Supermarket Gin in our recent Gin Awards, Sainsbury's has launched a brand new gin that sounds perfect for summer.
Sainsbury's new Taste the Difference Blackfriars Orange & Blossom Gin (£16) is available in stores, and online, from 28th April - and we're already counting down the days.
Infused with eight aromatic botanicals the gin is packed with zesty orange, blossom and thyme.
"We were inspired to create a drink that is synonymous with Sainsbury’s British heritage, whilst giving our customers a sumptuous tipple to toast with, no matter the occasion," says Louise Lynch, Product Developer Manager at Sainsbury’s.
"There’s nothing we seem to love more than a classic G&T, so whether it is a summer BBQ with friends or a family get-together, this gin is a great option for any upcoming summer celebration."
The new flavour joins two others in the Blackfriars spirit range, including Pomegranate & Rose Gin, which has been flying off shelves since launching in November according to the grocer.
So how best to serve the gin?
Sainsbury's says its versatility means the gin is great as a cocktail base or in a classic G&T.
"We recommend pairing the aromatic gin with Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic and garnishing with a sprinkle Pink Peppercorns, a juicy wedge of Blood Orange and a fresh sprig of thyme and mint for a G&T that’s sure to impress any guest."
According to the Wine and Spirit Trade Association, sales of UK gin have reportedly doubled in value in the past five years, with flavoured gins driving over half of all growth in the last recorded 12 months.
