Sabrina Carpenter And Olivia Rodrigo Were Filmed Talking At The 2025 Grammys

Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter’s 'drivers license' drama is truly years behind them. At the 2025 Grammys, the two pop stars were filmed talking to each other as Taylor Swift walked past them during the broadcast. Rodrigo had stopped by Carpenter’s table to chat.

It’s unclear what they’re saying, but they appear to be on far better terms than in the past.

Both have clearly moved on from their shared ex, Joshua Bassett. Rodrigo brought her boyfriend, Louis Partridge, as her Grammys date and they were photographed being affectionate during the show.

Carpenter, who is currently single, was last linked to Barry Keoghan. It was a big night for Carpenter, who won her first Grammys, including the award for Best Pop Vocal Album during the broadcast.

Even in August 2021, Rodrigo spoke out against people pitting her and Carpenter against each other because of their shared ex. 'I don’t really subscribe to hating other women because of boys,' she told Variety. 'I think that’s so stupid, and I really resent that narrative that was being tossed around.'

Fans speculated earlier that year that Rodrigo sang about Carpenter in her SOUR song 'drivers license.' She sang in verse two, 'And you’re probably with that blonde girl / Who always made me doubt / She’s so much older than me / She’s everything I’m insecure about / Yeah, today, I drove through the suburbs / ’Cause how could I ever love someone else?'

Rodrigo told Variety that she didn’t expect Carpenter to get the attention she did with the release of 'drivers license.'

'I put it out not knowing that it would get that reaction, so it was really strange [when] it did,' she said. 'I just remember [everyone being] so weird and speculative about stuff they had no idea about.'

Carpenter later told her side of the story in her emails i can’t send track 'because i liked a boy.' She sang about the public perception of her relationship with Bassett, singing in the bridge and chorus:

Now in 2025, Carpenter was rumoured to perform with Chappell Roan at the Grammys after they sang on her Christmas special together. Roan and Rodrigo are good friends too. We just got one inch closer to a Carpenter-Rodrigo duet someday.
