Netflix have officially confirmed You season 4, off the back of You season 3 dropping on the streaming service last week. But what could be in store for Joe Goldberg in the fourth instalment of the show? Actor Penn Badgley certainly has some ideas.

*Spoilers*

The highly anticipated third season of You finished with Joe planning to run off with son Henry, crush Marienne and her daughter Juliette. But once Joe's wife Love (Victoria Pedretti) realises what he's up to, she uses aconite to paralyse him, before telling Marienne to leave and never look back.

Eventually, Joe injects Love with a fatal dose of the poison which kills her, and frames his wife for his murder by chopping off his toes and pretending she baked him into a pie (this is You we're talking about.)

The final scene sees Joe in Paris, still pining after a life with Marienne.

So, what does actor Penn see in Joe's future? He joked to TV Line, "I think if Joe finds [her], he'll live happily ever after and have beautiful babies. He'll learn to speak French, he'll become a writer, they'll spend a lot of time along the Seine and they'll send their kids to school in Sweden."

He later confirmed, "No, I think Joe will remain the same. Someone this profoundly ill, disturbed, traumatised and violent has a serious hurdle before them if they're ever going to heal and change. I don't know if it's possible for someone who's that far gone."
