Of Course Ryan Gosling Wore a Custom Pink Gucci Suit to the Oscars
Ryan Gosling’s show-stealing Oscars outfit was definitely Kenough.
The Best Actor in a Supporting Role nominee, who dazzled as Ken in the hit film Barbie, donned a custom pink Gucci suit to perform at the 96th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday. Rising to the occasion, Gosling hit the Dolby Theater stage in the glittering fit to belt out “I’m Just Ken,” one of two Oscar-nominated songs from the movie’s soundtrack. (The other, “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish, ended up taking home the statuette for Best Original Song.)

Gosling’s head-to-Gucci look included a single-breasted pink wool suit, matching trousers, a silk crepe tonal shirt, and black leather lace-up shoes for the epic occasion. He stood out in the vibrant color next to fellow Kens that donned sharp black suits with pink-and-white sashes—a tribute to Marilyn Monroe’s “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” performance in 1953’s Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. All over hand-embroidered crystal drops as well as custom pink leather gloves and Gucci sunglasses helped catapult Gosling’s look to superstar status.
The actor kicked off his song hiding behind a black cowboy hat before serenading a giggly Margot Robbie, a.k.a. Barbie herself. Leaving the seats behind, Gosling stepped into the spotlight to perform the ballad with swagger. Co-stars Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, and Ncuti Gatwa hopped on stage with the Barbie lead to join in on the fun, which was amplified even further when rock legend Slash joined the Kens to give the song an electric twist.
Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt—the writers and producers of “I’m Just Ken”—both hit the stage in Gucci fits as well. Ronson played guitar as Wyatt assisted on vocals wearing custom Gucci oversized pale pink shirts with Rosso Ancora piping and black wool trousers.
The pink look wasn’t Gosling’s only Gucci fit of the night. The star walked the red carpet earlier in the evening wearing a single-breasted black wool suit with matching black trousers and black patent leather lace-up shoes from the fashion house. The debonair getup included a metallic beaded hand-embroidered trim, which was complimented by the star’s scintillating TAG Heuer watch—one of the best of the night. Dubbed the Plasma, its diamond-studded dial appears made for the spotlight next to a pink diamond set below 12 o’ clock and a pink crown.
The Kenergy may have been at an all-time high following Gosling’s performance, but he did end up losing the award to Robert Downey Jr., for his portrayal of Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer. Although if the Barbie star received one of this year’s swag bags, he’s still a winner as far as luxury perks go.
