Ruth Langsford shares mum's painful bruising after nasty fall as she recovers in hospital
Ruth Langsford has spent the lead-up to Christmas looking after her mum, Joan, after the 94-year-old suffered a nasty fall last week and ended up in hospital with a fractured pelvis. And now, Loose Women star Ruth, 64, has shared a clip of her mum's bruising as she recovers in hospital, with a painful-looking bruise sitting on her head.
Taking a video of herself rubbing some Arnica cream, which is meant to soothe bruises, on the injury, Ruth was also seen stroking her mum's hair. She wrote over the clip: "Mum's got a right shiner after her fall! Trying to sooth it with Arnica cream".
While she added that Joan has managed to avoid the grey hair successfully as the video showed her light brown locks, penning: "94 years old and hardly a grey hair... I'm hoping I've inherited the gene!"

Ruth - who has an incredibly tight-knit bond with her mum - has been keeping her 1.1 million Instagram followers updated on her mum's health following the fall, which she shared to the platform last week. Posting a clip of Joan peeling vegetables and dancing in her kitchen, Ruth wrote: "No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas….she’s had a fall and fractured her pelvis! She’s ok…ish, no surgery required thank goodness but she needs rest and time to heal now.
"She’s in hospital at the moment but I’m hoping to get her home soon. This time last year she fell and broke her hip but recovered well…she’s a very strong woman so I’m sure she’ll recover from this too. Put’s life and what’s important into perspective eh? Happy Christmas! X x".
Following the news, a number of fans and friends sent their love to Ruth and her mum, as Ruth's co-star Nadia Sawalha wrote: "Awww Ruth ..wishing you all well xxx" and This Morning's Juliet Sear said: "Bless her sending all the love and healing vibes xxx." Amanda Holden and Cat Deeley were also amongst well-wishers.
And with an update earlier this week, Ruth shared her hopes that Joan would be home for Christmas as she assured fans she was in positive spirits.
Ruth shared: "Hospital visit….thank you all so much for your lovely messages and well wishes for my darling Mum. She’ll be in hospital for a bit longer yet, but she’s in pretty good spirits considering and I hope she’ll be home for Christmas".
