Ruth Jones' child-free admission after controverisal start to relationship with husband
Gavin & Stacey star Ruth Jones admitted 'it just didn't happen' when it came to having children. The actress, who is stepmum to her husband David Peet's three children from his first marriage, candidly said she had 'all the joys of motherhood without the pain of giving birth'.
Ruth is gearing up for the highly-anticipated finale of Gavin & Stacey, which is set to air on Christmas Day. She admitted that her TV producer husband was 'married with three kids' when the pair met, while she was single.
Ruth told the Daily Mail: "It just didn't happen. It wasn't a decision. I don't have a burning desire to have babies.
"I think it's heartbreaking if you do and you find out you can't have them. I love being a stepmum - all the joys of motherhood without the pain of childbirth."

The Welsh actress is gearing up to reprise her role as Nessa Jenkins in the popular sitcom Gavin & Stacey. The festive episode is likely to be the final one in the saga, with loose ends being tied up.
She co-created the series with James Corden and the show has received a number of accolades, including two prestigious BAFTAs.
The 58-yer-old married David Peet in 1999 and is stepmum to her husband's three children, Louise, Alex and Fiona.
Ruth told an interview with the Scotsman newspaper: "You take things as they come. There wasn't a moment when I thought: 'I've become a stepmum now.'
"We never had any difficulty with teenage angst, and now I'm looking forward to becoming a step-grandmother at some point."
Ruth is a guest on the Graham Norton show tonight (Friday, December 20) at 10.40pm on BBC One. She will be joined on Graham's sofa by Gavin & Stacey co-star James Corden and actors Timothée Chalamet and Andrew Garfield.
The final episode of Gavin & Stacey airs on Christmas Day at 9pm on BBC One.
