It's been a busy few weeks for the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their third child, Prince Louis, on 23 April, just a few days before their daughter, Princess Charlotte, turned three on 2 May. Later in the month, royal wedding mania reached fever pitch when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot on 19 May.

As royal fans around the world watched the events unfold, Kensington Palace has revealed it has been inundated with cards and messages about the royal birthday, baby and nuptials. In a tweet thanking well wishers, the Palace said they have been sent 36,000 letters in recent weeks.

"Thank you everyone for the beautiful cards and letters following Princess Charlotte's third birthday, the birth of Prince Louis and the wedding of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex," the Palace wrote on Twitter. "We've received over 36,000 letters in the past month alone."

The royal family often send out thank you cards to well wishers after special occasions. After the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated their 7th wedding anniversary in April, they chose a sweet image to adorn their annual thank you notes.

The message inside the card read: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thank you for the thoughtful message you so kindly sent on the occasion of their 7th Wedding Anniversary. It really was most thoughtful of you.

"Their Royal Highnesses send you their warmest thanks and very best wishes."
