Ryan Lo is famous for his cute kawaii designs and sweet ice cream palettes. However, this season as we all piled into the decadent St Sepulchre Newgate Church, it was clear that the designer was taking a step back from his usual aesthetic.

A gorgeously gothic gown was the first to hit the runway, closely followed by a serious of colourless designs. Leaving us all wondering, what was the inspiration behind Lo’s muted, yet sublime collection?

The answer? None other than our Royal Family.

Lo recently celebrated receiving his British Citizenship, therefore he wanted his latest collection to pay homage to British dignitaries, such as the Queen and Princess Diana.

There was no missing their influence in the collection, as the monochrome designs, which then progressed into a subtle blush pink were adorned with tiers of tulle, floral embroidery, pussy bows and lashings of pearls.

Lo continued to make the collection a true royal affair by collaborating with Launer, one of Her Majesty’s favourite handbag designers. The prim purses finishing off each outfit perfectly, making them look quite literally fit for a Queen.

The royal twist did not stop there, whilst some of the models were sporting simple black bows in their hair, the majority were wearing an array of chic millinery designed by Stephen Jones. After all, what is a royal outfit without a hat?

Finally, Lo shared his own thoughts on what a royal wedding dress should look like as numerous ethereal ivory creations came down the catwalk, topped off with matching veils, Victorian lace gloves and flowers.

Seems like Ryan Lo has heard the latest, which is that Prince Harry’s girlfriend Meghan Markle has finally met the Queen, leaving us all thinking that we could be hearing those Westminster Abbey church bells in the near future.
