Cadbury World creates giant chocolate teddy to celebrate royal baby

Cadbury World chocolatiers have created a giant chocolate teddy bear to celebrate with the birth of the royal baby.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the birth of their baby son last Monday, 6 May.

Over the past two days, Sian Patterson and Bernie Andrews have been working around the clock to create a 45cm (1.5 foot) tall chocolate bear. The special confectionary weighs 28 kilograms.

To create the bear’s fur, the chocolatiers patted chocolate into peaks, while cocoa butter was used to paint its eyes.

The bear also clutches a white chocolate heart, which will have the baby’s name painted on it once it has been announced.

Cadbury World previously marked the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s three children with similar honours.

Previous artworks include a chocolate cot for the birth of Prince George, a chocolate pram for Princess Charlotte and a chocolate rocking horse for Prince Louis.

“Once again, our team of extremely talented chocolatiers have crafted a magnificent creation fit for a little prince or princess,” said Diane Mitchell, marketing manager at Cadbury World.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors to see the teddy bear for themselves at the attraction soon, and would like to send our best wishes to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from everyone here at Cadbury World.”

The bear will be on display at Cadbury World throughout May.
