Rosie H-W shares her acne struggles and the beauty product her son always steals

From Harper's BAZAAR

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is so much more than a model (although of course she's that as well): the Brit has branched out of the catwalk scene in recent years to become the beauty guru we never knew we needed.

Not only has she designed her own cosmetics line with Marks & Spencer but she's also launched her own beauty platform Rose Inc (her website is designed to give us an inside look at the model's beauty cabinets, as well as some of her other A-list friends, while also providing us with handy make-up tutorials and skin routine videos), safe to say, we learnt a lot.

Last week it was announced that the model-turned-actress would be launching her own series 'About Face', premiering on 10 August. The mini series will bring together Rosie and other beauty bigwigs, such as Glossier's Emily Weiss, to discuss what it means to become a entrepreneur in the beauty world today.

The businesswoman and mum of one sat down with Elle to talk all things beauty, including her skincare journey and why she says no to botox.

I head to bed at...

...11pm to midnight.

I wake up at...

...Between 6.30-7.20am.

The first thing that passes my lips is...

... I mean, it depends on the morning. I don’t drink coffee anymore and have never been a tea drinker, so I go for a matcha latte. I order from the coffee shop across the road if I'm feeling lazy.

The last thing that passes my lips is...

...Water - it's all I drink from 4pm.

My make-up routine....

... I’d like to say takes 15 mins, but that would be a load of bollocks. I hydrate my skin using iS Clinical Cleansing Complex, and ZO Skin Health Complexion Renewal Pads, then finish with iS Clinical Super Serum Advance. I dot Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer where I need it, then apply its Ambient Lighting Bronzer and Confession Lipstick on my lips and cheeks. My son is obsessed with the lipsticks – he thinks they’re swords.

My exercise routine...

... Has been non-existent – I haven’t been able to fit it in, so I’ve felt really sluggish. When I’m in LA, I go to Body by Simone and do Pilates.

My greatest beauty discovery...

... My facialist Biba de Sousa in LA. She’s educated me on the importance of ingredients and what I’m putting on my skin. I’ve gone from having quite severe acne to massively improved skin in a matter of months.

When I look in the mirror, I see...

... The worst bits first. I struggle with breakouts, so it changes each day. I never worry about my lips – they stay in good shape.

The last beauty item I bought?

... ZO Skin Health Oil Control Pads.

My worst beauty habit is...

...Squeezing spots.

I feel happiest when...

... Snuggled up with my son at night, reading a story. It’s pretty special and calming.

My fridge is always filled with...

... Supplements, flaxseed oil and face rollers. My fiancé Jason goes to the fridge and is like: "What is this?"

The craziest thing I've done in the name of beauty...

... Cool Laser, which uses energy pulses. I don’t like to try anything extreme – I’m cautious, especially in LA, where people are like, "Do you want breakfast and Botox?" and I’m like, "Uh, no. I’ll take the breakfast and you can keep the Botox."

My biggest beauty indulgence is...

... Massages – I get one every week.

The best beauty advice I've ever received...

... Tight-lining the eyes [using liner on the eye’s upper waterline]. It freaks me out but it really intensifies your lash line.

I deal with stress by...

... Calling Mum, who sends me on another spiral of stress.

To me, vanity means...

... A table you sit at to do your make-up. I’m not getting too deep about it.
