What do you look for in a partner? Have your say
As we grow, age and mature, our relationship preferences change along with us. Youth may favour the dizziness of romance, for example, while age might prefer to not to sweat the small stuff.
Romantic preferences usually shift as we enter different stages of life. As Valentine’s Day approaches, Yahoo UK wants to hear about what you’re prioritising in a relationship at this moment.
Maybe you’re 20-something and looking for someone to sweep you off your feet? Or you’re in your 50s and a stable, dependable person is what will do it for you. There are also modern dating challenges to contend with, from figuring out your dating app profile to navigating new dating terms like "breadcrumbing" and "beige flags".
What you want from a relationship also differs based on your gender. Studies have shown that, while interest in sex declines as we age, women are twice as likely to lose interest when living with a partner.
The pressures of modern life can also affect interest in sex, with one study showing people are having less sex post Millennium compared to in the 1990s. But this means that other priorities may have come into focus when it comes to romance, whatever age you might be.
