How Rock God Lenny Kravitz Keeps His Mind and Body Fit at 56
It simply is not possible to answer the door of an Airstream trailer and look any cooler than Lenny Kravitz. We’re just being real here.
The rock god and Men’s Health US November cover guy has been spending most of 2020 Airstream chillin' in the Bahamas, where he’s either found the elixir of life (it contains soursop) or beach buried his aging portrait. The man is 56 and has never looked better.
We caught up with Kravitz on the island, where he showed us around his garden, which is really his fridge, and his tropical backyard, which is really his gym.
Kravitz’s fridge fridge looks more like a bodega produce stand; it’s all green. Broccoli. Celery. Kale. Lettuce. Bell peppers. And one lone red apple. On his counter is more fruit and garden yields: mango, lemons, okra, avocado, and Kravitz’s favourite, soursop (rich in fiber).
“A great blessing of living here in the Bahamas is that I get to grow my own food,” Kravitz says. Kravitz is vegan, and he eats a majority of his food raw. He said he’s gone on raw diets for as long as a year, which means Kravitz’s fridge isn’t so much an ice box as a field.
“I’m very careful about what I put into my body and how I take care of my body. It’s a combination of eating all these things and working out and keeping my muscles and my joints in shape, so that I can do what I do.” What he does: Continue to crush it on stage.
Kravitz works out five to six days a week, taking a quick drive to another patch of green that doubles as his gym.
“I’d rather be outside and in nature than being cooped up inside a gym.”
Amen to that.
