Rita Ora has opened up about the "ridiculous" throuple rumours surrounding herself, her partner director Taika Waititi, and Thor: Love and Thunder actress Tessa Thompson.

In May 2021, intimate photos of the trio having a three way kiss were leaked, sparking wild rumours online and in the tabloids speculating that they were in a throuple.

The rumours were exacerbated by the fact that Waititi directed Thompson in Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder, while Waititi and Ora had recently been revealed as a couple.

However, in a new interview with GQ, Ora called the rumours "ridiculous" and "absurd" as she talked about her relationship with Waititi, who she is now reportedly married to since the summer of 2022.

"I just chose to not acknowledge that because it’s ridiculous. I think when some things are so absurd, and it’s hard to fathom any sense of it, you just have to ignore it," Ora said.

"I’ve taken that approach for a lot of things because you don’t want to put energy towards something that’s nonexistent. It’s like trying to explain something that didn’t happen means you’re feeding into nothing."

Ora likened the situation to being drunk and suddenly becoming best friends with a stranger in the smoking area, only to realise the next day that you don't actually know who they are.

"Literally – that [photo] was just a bunch of friends having a good time. They [Taika and Tessa] had a crazy schedule and everyone was letting loose. I love that. Each to their own," Ora said.

"The good news, though, is that when I was on Twitter talking to my fans, all of my incredible LGBTQIA+ fanbases were like, actually – whether this is true or not – I’m so inspired that this is being normalised publicly. That made me really happy. You don’t know who it’s touching."
